Topic: The Launch of the NHSI Catheter Care Resources to Reduce Gram-Negative Infections


Karen is currently employed as Infection Prevention and Control Lead for Public Health England’s Antimicrobial Resistance Programme working closely with NHS Improvement in the delivery of the ambition to have healthcare-associated Gram-negative blood stream infections by 2021.  She has worked in Infection Prevention and Control for 20 years in a variety of roles including clinical IPC Lead in the NHS, national Lead for 60 independent hospitals, Regional and National Lead roles in the Health Protection Agency.    She holds a Master of Public Health degree from Australia and MSc Epidemiology degree from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.  Karen is the lead facilitator for Day 1 of the HIS PHE Infection Prevention and Control Foundation course.

Karen is an independent consultant for the World Health Organization regularly working with WHO Europe and the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network.
